CamTEFL

Goals

To provide a quality TEFL training programme.

  1. CamTEFL is an intensive TEFL completed in 4 weeks/ 120 hours. There are 6 hours observed teaching practice with real students. This practice is within the context of continuous English lessons at an established school, Conversations With Foreigners (CWF) in Phnom Penh. Even while training, you will be helping students build on previous lessons with the prospect of progressing to higher levels. This additional responsibility makes your training more meaningful and sharper, and is an asset when job seeking.
  2. There is an emphasis on training teachers to teach in developing countries with access to limited resources. This is not only a realistic aim for teaching in small or remote communities, but will also benefit you in terms of sparking your creativity in lesson planning.  Also, there is a trend in the TEFL industry of teaching paper-less lessons, and this will be good preparation in that regard, and could be another impressive asset when job-seeking.
  3. To provide a pool of skilled teachers, for Cambodia and other countries, comfortable in a range of environments from development work to commercial TEFL posts.
  4. To raise the quality of teaching at Conversations With Foreigners (CWF) and in Cambodia.
  5. To be supportive of individual trainee’s needs and to add knowledge, skills and confidence to existing strengths.

To raise money and support sustainable development in Cambodia.

  1. All profits are donated to the Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT).
  2. Capacity building by creating a new Cambodian enterprise administered and staffed by Cambodians with the long term goal aim of employing a Cambodian Trainer.
  3. There will be a scholarship scheme to train Cambodian Nationals where there is a strong possibility that their training will positively impact on EFL teaching and learning to the benefit of Cambodia.

Transparency.

  1. To provide detailed information about our organisation and course and the industry in general so that expectations are clear.
  2. This extends to a public financial breakdown to show that while we hope to raise money for CRDT  we aim to provide a value for money course for trainees.
  3. Information on the website and email communication prior to booking and arrival is with staff including your trainers working at this one training centre. As a small, supportive team we need to give personal attention to customers in order to succeed. We encourage prior visits to the school, if at all possible, for you to see for yourself.
