I would recommend The CamTEFL course without hesitation. Very intense and taxing, physically and mentally but I cannot imagine any alternative course could provide better tuition within a 4 week period.
Niall Crotty     niall20@gmail.com

The intensity worked well for me as I find it easier to concentrate and work wellunder pressure. I fully support CamTEFL and wish to see it thrive.

Lisa Fields   contact via neal.evans@camtefl.org

I have nothing but praise for the practicality of the material shared. The push for time with lesson planning was a bit much. I have my own issues with time management, but wasn’t alone in the pressure. I knew going in that the course wouldn’t be a cakewalk.

Andrew Zhen     contact via neal.evans@camtefl.org

Certainly for someone looking towards a teaching career, CamTEFL is worth considering but the methodology and teaching style presented may not suit all prospective teachers. However a TEFL certificate is the first step in a series of qualifications a competent teacher should hold so CamTEFL is as good as any if you’re in Cambodia.

Feedback was supportive, clear and always professionally handled. Great to see experienced teacher, really helps you understand the process involved in teaching.

Lindsay Mills   lindsaykmills@yahoo.co.uk

I would recommend the CamTEFL absolutely and struggle to think of any negatives with the course. Many thanks to Emily, Liz and Neal for their support and good humour when we needed it.

Amy Flegg    amykirkie@gmail.com

I found giving negative peer feedback very emotionally draining and difficult yet the feedback I received kept me on track and was extremely insightful. Whenever I acted on feedback my lessons were better for it.

I was pleased to be teaching from the second day even though I was apprehensive

Anna Spencer  spanner7@hotmail.com

The practical application from experienced, motivational, inspiring trainers and their feedback to this practical application means that I feel I am well on my way to entering the EFL profession.

Anne Murrie  annemurrie@yahoo.com

I'd absolutely recommend the CamTEFL course to someone wanting to do EFL teaching. I have gained an enormous amount both professionally and personally by being supported to move outside my comfort zone to try and develop a wholerange of new skills. It has been an exceptional learning experience with great trainers and wonderful colleagues.

Mark Johnston  markjohnston70@yahoo.com

Teaching practice was great, I learned so much. I was totally spent and stressed at the end.

Greg Boyd gregorboyd@gmail.com

Feedback was a first for me and I think I developed a lot through it. I would also recommend CamTEFL for experienced teachers who wanton to develop as teachers. In the future I won't be so dependent on a text book.

Julia Van Voorhies jewels03044@gmail.com

Teaching practice was the most helpful and also the hardest part to the course.

Lee Parker  leeparker@netspace.net.au

I definitely believe CamTEFL is very effective introduction to the methodology. The opportunity to teach in a real classroom of real students is also a distinct plus. The heart of the learning.

David Wood ddubs182002@hotmail.com

I feel this course has been of incredible value to me in my development as a teacher. I had no idea how much I was going to learn and how many varied challenges I would have the chance to grapple with.

4. CamTEFL August 2008

Bethany Obrecht   bjnappy@yahoo.com.

This is the hardest thing I've ever done and I feel proud at the end.

Rob Wall rob.wall@tesco.net

Both trainers provided feedback that was crucial to my training. It was honest and at times hard to hear but necessary. The teaching practice at CWF was invaluable. I hope I madea difference and am confidnet that I did. Teaching at CWF has confirmed that I want to teach in developing countries.

Walker Stephens rjosuave20@hotmail.com

Teaching practice was awesome and I learned so much from teaching and observing. The feedback from trainers and peers was very insightful and useful

Kate Hale  katherinehale@hotmail.co.uk.

I loved teaching at CWF. Glad of the fantastic mix of students. I hope I made a difference. I would recommend CamTEFLto anyone who wants either to qualify as a TEFL teacher or just gain experience in this sector.

Ou Hong  ouhong77@yahoo.com.

It was very different to anything I've done before.

Matt Reeves mattrvs@hotmail.com.

The real experience (of teaching at CWF) was invaluable. A good course and good support so if you come here then you'll either stay or not and I'm not sure you can prepare people any better.

Geordie Smith  geordiesmith@gmail.com

The support from the trainer is where the quality of this programme becomes evident. I could do teaching practice and read and apply theories by myself but having a trainer who is so able to pick up on things to improve my teaching and feed them back in a way that is motivating is fantastic.

Sarah Biddle  sarahbiddle72@hotmail.com

Although very hard and intense every minute was worthwhile. Watching peers gives you a different perspective and ideas of how to improve.

Giada Tu Thanh  giada.tuthanh@gmail.com

I really liked the fact that we taught real students from the second day and by the end of the course we were rewarded by their progress.

What a great foundation to build a career on! Money well spent. Priceless teaching and support throughout. Good insights into the industry, the positives and negatives of teaching in Cambodia. If you genuinely want to learn and develop teaching skills, this course is gold. A very positive experience, hard work but thoroughly worthwhile.

 Harmony Brown    harmonybrown@gmail.com
CamTEFL immerses you into the TEFL world. Participants must be prepared to give 110% of themeselves. In return they receieve the same.

Marko Demarin   markodemarin@hotmail.com
I wouldn't recommend CamTEFL to everyone. I would have to consider the individual motivations, prior eductation and strength of character. I would not recommend someone to take the course half hazardly. The course would be excellent for anyone wanting to be a competent adult EFL teacher. The course moves quickly and is challenging both intellectually and emotionally and will make you a competent EFL teacher if you are prepared to go there.

Mike Morabito   mmora@acewebmail.com
The course is a must for anybody attempting to be a good teacher. An outstanding experience, pass or fail, a win win.

Teaching at CWF for 4 weeks was invaluable

"Choosing a TEFL course can be a bit of a lottery but I feel that I struck gold by choosing a course run by Neal.  His combined enthusiasm and professionalism made the training effective and fun.  He has a wide range of teaching experience to draw on and is able to support trainees at all levels of their development.  I had thought that TEFL was something to occupy me during my "grown up gap year" but seeing Neal's passion for delivering teaching of the highest possible quality was part of the reason that I made a career change that I haven't looked back on"

Angela Morton angie_morton@yahoo.co.uk

I wanted to teach and looked at many options before deciding to take a TEFL.  It was incredible.  I not only learnt how to teach with limited resources but also got to teach real students.  My training enabled me to teach people from all walks of life, regardless of their level of education. It gives you the confidence to know you can really teach.
The course was quite intense at times, but you got to put into practice what you had learnt straight away.   The input sessions taught you how to teach and what aspects you needed to consider before you then put it into practice.
Neal Evans is a great trainer, very patient and full of ideas to help you plan and deliver your lessons.  If you were not sure if your ideas would work , Neal was always on hand to go through your lesson plan with you and either allay your fears or give you a few suggestions on how to make the lesson better.  Neal's enthusiasm for teaching is contagious, he inspires confidence in you.
After taking my course I went on to teach in a small fishing community in San Felipe, Mexico for 3 months.  This was a voluntary project where I taught students aged from 15 to 50 years old.  This helped me to know that teaching was what I wanted to do, so armed with this experience and my TEFL I  found a job teaching in a school in Tulum, Mexico.  A year and a half later and I am still teaching in the school.  My students are aged between 3 and 9 years old.  I love teaching my students and my life here in Tulum.  Taking this course was the best decisión I ever made.

Angela has been teaching in nursery/primary schools in Tulum in Mexico since 2006.

Mark Fitzpatrick fitzyabroad@hotmail.com

Hello I’m Mark, a one time petrified student on what was to me a daunting TEFL challenge, that was, until I observed Neal’s teaching and training abilities. Neal’s approach, calmness and overall professionalism put me at ease instantly and definitely played a big part in not only the successful completion but also thorough enjoyment of every minute of the TEFL course.
The design, delivery and timing of Neal’s Input sessions to graduates were priceless and played a major part in my own development. The sessions just appeared at the perfect time with the perfect content during each stage of my own training development, as if by a stroke of a magic wand.
Neal has an ability to coax students own ideas from within them, show great enthusiasm and yet make the idea remain their own. This enhanced my confidence in planning activities for classes and lead onto further discussions on the benefits and expansion of my activities.
During student feedback sessions Neal’s feedback would come across as positive because I knew that he truly did take care, show passion and pride in the development of his students.
Unfortunately I have not put my teaching skills into practice (yet) but whilst planning my future teaching career, Neal has been just an email away for advice and assistance with an immediate response to my queries. Therefore, with Neal not only do you get a great mentor during training but also a friend for after course support.
Mark has been accepted on a PGCE course but is currently teaching in Cambodia.

Pippa Hodges pippa_hodges@hotmail.com

One of the main reasons I chose to take a TEFL course was because I found the prospect of standing in front of a room full of students terrifying, and therefore a challenge that had to be faced.
Over the month-long TEFL course, Neal’s teacher training and mentoring skills helped me to recognize the strengths I already had and use them in the classroom.  Through positive and constructive feedback, inspiring demonstration and a solid grounding in the basics of English grammar, I was able to plan and execute English classes that were both fun to teach and to attend.
Neal’s method of communicative teaching focused on group activities, games and exercises that used minimal resources, adapted easily to the community’s needs and above all was an enjoyable and productive experience for both teacher and student.
Neal’s enthusiasm for his work as well as the faith he puts in his trainees is boundless and unbiased, he highlights people’s strengths bringing out the confidence they need to teach, and in doing so is able to make a lasting, positive impression on any community, regardless of age or ability.

Pippa taught in the small community of San Felipe in Mexico 2006.

Sarah Van Name vannamesa@hotmail.com

Prior to taking a TEFL course I had done some lightweight volunteer teaching and realized I hadn’t been much of a success.  At the start of my TEFL training, teaching to me was just something new to try, a temporary endeavor.  I thought taking a TEFL course was the solution within itself.  Just memorize some facts and apply some theories and bam- you have a teacher.   From the first day of my training with Mr. Neal that view was forever and drastically altered.   Now I realize how wrong I was.  Teaching isn’t about spouting knowledge.  It’s beyond your own ego and about meeting the needs of others.  Young, old, college educated or drop-outs, each of your students has a certain potential, background, desire and whole set of reasons for being in your class.  A real teacher recognizes this.  While in control of what’s going on around them, also realize they don’t have complete control and flow the lesson around the student’s attitudes, abilities and enthusiasm.
All of this I learned through Neal’s inspiring example, invaluable input and insightful feedback.  He has the uncanny ability to detect what is going on below the surface of a teacher.  He exposes strengths and determines weaknesses and acts accordingly to enable growth.  Within a group he is capable of tailoring each persons experience to fit their needs.  More than a trainer, Neal is an exemplary teacher.
Teaching was never easy for me, even while learning from Neal.  However, after he encouraged in me the desire to succeed he gave me the tools to do it.  I have been teaching for over a year, currently in Thailand.  Never in my life have I received more satisfaction from my work.  Taking a TEFL, I expected an educational vacation.  I got that plus a new and fulfilling career.

Sarah has been teaching in a small, bilingual primary school in Nan, Northern Thailand since April 2007.

Sasha Coe smashacoe@hotmail.com

Neal Evans was my TEFL trainer in October 2005.  I had been teaching basic computer skills in London for 4 years previously but had never dealt with the complexities of teaching another language.  The first time I saw him run a beginners course I was immediately impressed by his command of the classroom, the ease with which he slipped into a lesson and the instant rapport he developed with his students.
His style is non-threatening yet passionate and intense which I feel creates an environment very suitable for learning, one in which students feel compelled to push themselves further without feeling forced to do so.  They enjoy the experience because he has a unique ability to enable them to feel comfortable whilst still encouraging them to work hard.  It seems obvious when watching Neal that he loves what he is doing, that he has a wealth of knowledge to impart and that he has the patience and skill to deliver with highly successful results.
I have continued on with my own teaching since receiving my TEFL qualification and it is partly thanks to him that I am actually doing so.  He instilled a sense of confidence in me that I otherwise would not have maintained and taught me many valuable lessons in the process. I found him to be an excellent role model and try to incorporate many of his teaching methods in my classroom to this day.

Sasha has taught in the remote Mayan fishing village of Punta Allen, to refugees in London and commercially In Barcelona in Spain.

William Abraham Puc Cardenas willpc182@hotmail.com

I gained more confidence with the training. I know what activities to include in my lesson plan now, I was able to find my weaknesses and improve them. Moreover, I developed the ability to create materials for teaching and that has made me more creative. The training really helped me to find my vocation, to be an English teacher who doesn’t sit behind a desk. I want to be a teacher who always cares about others, a teacher who is willing to help, teach and learn from his students. I learned how to organize my teaching materials, to have perseverance to reach goals. Neal taught me that a journey with a thousand miles begins with a single step.
